After 28 rounds, just six games remain in Eden University National First Division for City of Lusaka FC to clinch promotion to the Super League.
City are currently in fifth, three points off of fourth placed Chambishi and third placed Kafue Celtic who are level on 49 points. Nchanga Rangers sit one place behind City with 44 points.
This Saturday, May 22nd, Yamoto travel to Solwezi to face second placed Kansanshi Dynamos in round 29. The two teams played out a 0-0 draw the last time they played each other at Woodland Stadium in January.
After this weekend, four of the five remaining games are situated in Lusaka, giving coach Isaac Chansa’s side the advantage of minimal travel.
22 May – v Kansanshi Dynamos (A)
5 June – v KYSA (H)
12 June – v Zesco Rangers (A)
19 June – v FC Muza (H)
26 June – v Konkola Blades (A)
3 July – v Trident (H)
Yamoto are on a run of inconsistent form of late, having won last time out against National Assembly, lost the weekend before to Kafue Celtic and drew two games ago against Police College.
They have played a total of 28 games, winning 12, drawing 10 and losing six, as well as scoring 27 goals and conceding 21, giving them a goal difference of just plus six. Third placed Chambishi have a goal difference of plus 14, while Nchanga Rangers have plus 15.
Lusaka have a three-way tie for top goalscorer so far this season with Shimonde, Kalala and Mundia all at the top with four goals each.
Next weekend, Chambishi play host to Kafue Celtic in round 30 of the league in a game that could help decide the fate of Yamoto’s season. Chambishi also still have second placed Kansanshi to play in their remaining games, meaning City can rise into the promotion spots if results go their way.
In the final six games of the season, City need to take full advantage of the 18 points left on offer and improve their goal difference to secure top four and the opportunity to play in Zambia’s top division next season.
