City of Lusaka faced National Assembly in the week 28 fixture played on 15 May 2021. City of Lusaka fielded a new-look team following their disappointing 2-1 loss against Kafue Celtic in the previous round.
Coach Isaac Chansa and goalkeeper Andrew Kambilombilo were suspended for the match as both had picked up red cards against Kafue Celtic. However, Coach Isaac was in the stands cheering the team on, while Assistant Coach, Bruce Lumino, led from the touchline.
Dropped from the team were senior players, Anthony Moyo, Harry Milanzi, Angel Lubamba and Matthews Sichone. Also absent was central defender Chadrack Bofenda due to an ankle injury. The starting line up included two of the Yamoto U19 players, making their first starts for the club, Christopher Katongo (20) at centre back and Michael Ndopu (18) on the right wing. Also making a comeback was Chisenga Lukwembe following two months out with a quadricep injury.
City started brightly, pressing high up the field and defending as a solid unit. Assembly were playing on the counter attack with a strong striker lining up against youngster Chris Katongo. City created a few chances in the first half with Shimonde firing two over the bar and a few shots from range saved well by the Assembly keeper.
HALF TIME: City 0-0 Assembly
The second half started fantastically as Alex Chanda nodded in from a corner to give Yamoto a 1-0 lead on 55 minutes. City dominated the next period with both Charles Katongo and Lubinda Mundia going one on one with the Assembly goalkeeper. However City couldn’t find a second goal to put the match out of reach.
The final 15 minutes of the match were frenetic, with City showing a lack of experience to calm the game. However Assembly were blunt up front and Yamoto didn’t appear to be in danger of conceding an equalizer.
In the last minute of the match Francis Banda pressed high up the field to steal the ball off the Assembly Goalkeeper who make is first error of the match. Francis played in Chisenga who needed to pass the ball into an empty net to double Yamoto’s lead. In a moment of madness he fired the ball over the crossbar and collapsed exhausted.
The match ended thereafter with City players having given everything for the Club and their teammates, earning a well deserved victory.

Yamoto stay 5th on the table, three points off the promotion places. This weekend they travel to second place Kansanshi Dynamos, to close the gap on super league promotion.
